Photographer and Drik Gallery managing director Shahidul Alam has filed another bail petition with the High Court in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.

Shahidul’s lawyer submitted the petition, to the court’s branch concerned, on Tuesday, said his lawyer Jyotirmoy Barua.

The bench of Justice Rezaul Haque and Justice Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman is likely to hold a hearing on the bail petition on Wednesday, reports UNB.

Earlier on Monday, the High Court ordered the lower court concerned to dispose of Shahidul’s bail petition by Tuesday (today).

Later, Judge KM Imrul Kayes of Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court denied bail to Shahidul Alam in the case.

The bail petition was filed on August 28.

On September 4, one judge of a two-member High Court bench was embarrassed to hear the bail petition.

Later, another bench was formed to hear the petition.

On September 5, the High Court directed the authorities concerned to provide first division for the jailed photographer.

Detectives arrested Shahidul Alam at his Dhanmondi residence on August 5 and a case was filed against him with Ramna police station on August 6. He was also placed on a seven-day remand in the case.

Police claimed that he spread propaganda through his Facebook account during the student movement that demanded safe roads.
