A charge sheet has been filed in court against the owners and staff of two Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan buses that were involved in the July 29 accident where two college students were killed.
The accused are – Md Shahadat Hossain, Md Masum Billah, Md Enayet Hossain, Md Jahangir Alam, Md JobayerShumon, and Asad Gazi.
Shahadat is the owner of the bus that ran over the students. Masum was driving the bus while Enayet was his assistant. The other bus owned by Jahangir was racing against the first bus. Jobayer was driving it and Asad was his assistant.
Investigating officer, Detective Branch’s Inspector KaziShariful Islam, filed the charge sheet with the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Thursday.
Shahadat, Masum, Enayet, and Jobayer are in police custody. Jahangir and Asad are on the run.
Forty-one witnesses have been named to testify before the court.

On July 29, Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College first-year student, Diya Khanam Mim, and second-year student Abdul Karim Rajib, were killed when a speeding Jabal-e-Noor bus ploughed through a group of students in front of the Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road.
Diya’s father, Jahangir Alam, filed a case with cantonment police.
The incident triggered widespread protests – which later turned into a weeklong movement – by students demanding safer roads and seeking justice.
