Update : 13 May 2018, 08:46 PM

A Dhaka court has deferred the submission date of a probe report on sabotage charges against 14 people including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The report, which was due on May 13, is now due on June 13, as declared by the court of Magistrate Nurunnahar Yasmin.

Mayez Ahmed, the assistant of a general registration officer confirmed the matter, saying: “As the inspector of Shahbagh Police Station could not submit the report in time, the court had no choice but to defer the hearing.”

According to case files, Muktijoddha Parishad rallied its members to besiege Khaleda Zia’s office in Gulshan on February 16, 2015. When 20-30,000 people got together to surround the premises under the leadership of Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, improvised bombs were hurled at them.

Dhaka Janbahon Union General Secretary Ismail Hossain Bachchu filed a case in this regard.

Prominent suspects in the case include BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Vice-chairperson Selima Rahman and BNP leader Khandakar Mahabubur Rahman.
