BNP leader Sadat put on three-day remand

A Dhaka court on Sunday granted a three-day remand for BNP cnetral committee member Syed Sadat Ahmed, who was shown arrested on Saturday night after four months of disappearance, in an arson case filed with Ramna police station. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Pranab Kumar Whui passed the order after investigation officer of the case Sub-inspector Md Saiful Islam of Detective Branch of police sought a 10-day remand to interrogate Sadat, also the managing director of ABN Group.

Detectives arrested the BNP leader from Rampura area of the city on Saturday evening, four months after he was allegedly picked up by a group of men carrying law enforcement agency's identification on August 22. Sadat was shown arrested for instigating an arson attack on a private car that claimed a life in Moghbazar area on Jan 9, 2015, when his party was enforcing a countrywide rail, road and waterways blockade.
