A copy of the complaint filed against Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman with a Manikganj court Dhaka TribuneMahmudur was also alleged to have presented false information on the killings and forced disappearances in Bangladesh.
The complainant said he had come across Mahmudur's remarks on the print and electronic media and had decided to file a sedition case against him under section 124(a) of the Penal Code.

The case was filed under sections 123(a), 124(a), 500, 502 and 505 of the Penal Code. A former leader of Sylhet district unit Bangladesh Chhatra League also filed a Tk500crore defamation case against Mahmudur with a Sylhet court. Earlier on Sunday night, a general diary was filed over the “derogatory statements” of Mahmudur in Bogra. Sherpur upazila unit Awami League Joint Secretary Sultan Mahmud filed the GD with Sherpur police station. Mahmudur is also facing a sedition case in Khulna. Nazia Ahmed Borna, president of Khulna city's Ward 16 unit of Mahila League, filed the sedition case with the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court Monday. Cases against Mahmudur have also been filed in Natore, Kushtia and Kurigram.
