A special court has sentenced former BNP lawmaker MA Ohab to eight years' imprisonment in a case filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for concealing information in wealth report and amassing illegal wealth.
The court also fined him Tk45,000 on Monday and ordered the authorities concerned to confiscate his wealth worth Tk96 lakh, said Jahid Hossain, deputy director of ACC Jessore office.
According to the court statement, ACC filed a case against Ohab for concealing wealth information and amassing wealth illegally under Sections 26 (2) and 27 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2008 on November 11, 2008.
After examining all documents and witnesses, Judge of Jessore Special Court Nitai Chandra handed down the verdict.
