Justice Wahhab Miah made acting chief justice

Update : 03 Oct 2017, 11:25 AM
President Md Abdul Hamid has appointed Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah as the acting chief justice. The president also granted Chief Justice SK Sinha's application for a month's leave on health grounds from October 3 to November 1. Justice Miah, the senior-most Appellate Division judge after Sinha, will discharge the duties of the chief justice until then. A gazette notification was issued in this regard on Monday. Bar association chief Zainul Abedin said such a long leave by a chief justice just before the opening of the court after a long vacation was rare in the judiciary's history. After Chief Justice Sinha wrote to the president seeking leave, Law Minister Anisul Huq said an acting chief justice would be appointed as soon as possible.
