Update : 20 Dec 2016, 06:15 PM
A man has been charged in court nearly two years after the horrific sexual assaults on women and children on the Dhaka University campus during celebrations for Bangla New Year, or 'Pohela Boishakh'. Investigation Officer Abdur Razzak of the Police Bureau of Investigation submitted the chargesheet at Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court on Tuesday morning. Md Kamal, arrested earlier this year, has denied the charges and later secured a six-month bail from the High Court on July 1. Media reports said at least 20 women and children were sexually assaulted by several gangs of stalkers in the afternoon and evening near the Suhrawardy Udyan gate of the TSC on April 14, 2015. Onlookers caught two of the offenders and handed them over to police, but they were later released. A month later, police issued a Tk1 lakh reward for providing information leading to the capture of the offenders.
