Khandaker Mosharraf acquitted in another ACC case

BNP Standing Committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has been acquitted in another Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) case involving allegations of illegally acquiring assets.

The verdict was delivered by Judge Md Manjurul Hossain of Dhaka’s Special Judge Court No. 8 on Sunday.

Dr Mosharraf was present in the courtroom during the announcement.

This is the third acquittal for the BNP leader in recent months. He was previously cleared of charges in a coal mine corruption case on October 27 and in a money embezzlement case on October 28.

According to court records, the ACC filed the case against Dr Mosharraf on January 10, 2008, at Ramna police station. The charges alleged that he had concealed assets worth Tk12 crore and had acquired approximately Tk3 crore in wealth beyond his known sources of income.

A charge sheet was submitted in the case on September 17, 2008.
