The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky and 23 others on allegations of recruitment fraud.
The case was filed on Sunday by ACC Deputy Director Sumitra Sen at the agency's Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1.
Upon reviewing the report submitted by the ACC investigation team, it was found that Liaquat Ali Lucky and Shilpakala Director Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury colluded to increase the scores of unsuccessful candidates in the written exams for recruitment at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
According to case files, they unlawfully appointed 23 individuals to 10 positions by manipulating the written exam results. It has been reported that after passing the failed candidates, these individuals were appointed to various positions.
On April 7, 2011, Lucky was appointed as the DG of Shilpakala Academy.
His tenure was last extended for the seventh time on March 29, 2023.
In face of various allegations, following the fall of Sheikh Hasina government, Liaquat Ali Lucky, the longest-tenured director general of the country’s principal state-sponsored national cultural centre, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), stepped down from his position on August 12.
