The Police Headquarters has formed a three-member committee to investigate the allegation of looting Tk25 crore from the room of the former Special Branch (SB) of Police chief Monirul Islam.
DIG Golam Kibria of Special Security and Protection Battalion (SPBn) of Police Headquarters has been made the head of this committee.
DIG Golam Kibria confirmed the matter on Thursday.
He said: “This investigation committee has been constituted to probe the charges of embezzlement of Tk25 crore from the office of Monirul Islam, the former head of the Special Branch (SB) of the police, and some other corruption charges against him. There are two more policemen from the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) in the committee.”
He also said: “Investigation is ongoing. It will take some more time to complete the entire investigation.”
