ACC files charge sheet against 3 in Gulistan shopping complex case

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a charge sheet against three people on allegations of corruption in allotment of 158 shops or spaces in the Gulistan shopping complex building in the capital, owned by the Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust.

ACC Deputy Director and Investigation Officer Ajoy Kumar Saha, filed the chargesheet at the Dhaka Integrated District Office-1 on Tuesday.

ACC Deputy Director and Public Relations Officer Aktarul Islam said: “158 shops, spaces or warehouses of Gulistan Complex building were illegally sold or transferred without the authorized person and the managing director of the contractor. Moreover, the rental agreement is also executed.

“After investigating these allegations, the case was filed on January 20, 2022 by ACC Deputy Director SM Rashedur Reza. Later Deputy Director Ajoy Kumar Saha was given the responsibility of investigating the case,” he added.

Following a lengthy investigation in which the allegations against the accused were proven, the commission approved the filing of a charge sheet accusing the Director of the contracting company M/s Western Engineers Limited Ziaul Ahsan, Ghulam Mustafa Kamal, and Gulistan Complex building head Mahmud Parvez Jewel.

After approval, the investigating officer submitted a charge sheet under Section 109 of the penal code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
