A three-member investigation committee has been formed after an audio clip went viral, in which Rajshahi's Charghat Model police station's Officer-in-Charge Mahbubul Alam is heard allegedly demanding a Tk7 lakh bribe from a woman.
The committee has been directed to report their findings in seven working days.
Additionally, the OC was also withdrawn from his post.
In the clip, the OC was heard asking for Tk5 lakh from a drug dealer's wife to allow drug trade, and another Tk2 lakh for a job transfer of another OC.
Rajshahi's Superintendent of Police (SP) Saifur Rahman confirmed that the woman had filed a complaint and provided the audio clip as evidence.
Investigations have begun and the probe body is collecting testimonies from witnesses and the affected parties, he said.
If the claims are true, further action will be taken against the OC, he added.
