A court on Wednesday set March 24 for the submission of a probe report against Dhaka South Jubo League’s expelled president Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat and expelled vice-president of Jubo League South City unit Enamul Haque Arman in two cases filed under the Arms and Narcotics Act.
Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique set the date afresh as CID failed to submit the report within the deadline on Wednesday.
On September 13, 2020, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police filed a case against expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat on the charge of siphoning off Tk195 crore from the country.
Samrat’s close associate Md Enamul Haque Arman was also sued on the same charge.
According to the case statement, Samrat in coordination with his associate Md Enamul Haque Arman laundered Tk195 crore to Singapore and Malaysia.
Samrat earned the money through operating various illegal activities in Motijheel, Fakirapool, Paltan, and Kakrail in the city from an office owned by him, the CID’s case statement read.
Earlier, on October 6, 2019, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Samrat and his associate Arman from Kunja Sreepur village of Alkora union under Chauddagram upazila of Comilla district.
