The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against the principal of the Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Habignaj and two suppliers over irregularities in procurement.
Principal Abu Sufian and supplier Afsana Islami Kakoli, owner of Nirjhara Enterprises, stands accused of embezzling funds over buying medical equipment and books worth Tk3.5 crore, ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.
According to the case documents, the commission has found that the two colluded to embezzle Tk 1.29 crore through procuring books higher than the market price.
The second case over procurement irregularities accuses Principal Sufian and supplier SM Nazrul Islam Nutan of Poonam Trade International of embezzling funds causing the state to loss Tk2.14 crore by procuring equipment at inflated prices.
