The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has brought charges of irregularities involving Tk30 crore against two people, including the project director of Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College and Hospital in Sirajganj Dr Krishna Kumar Pal.
ACC Deputy Assistant Director Mohammad Shahjahan Miraz filed the case with graft watchdog’s Pabna Integrated District Office on Monday.
The other accused in the case is supplier Jaher Uddin Sarkar, the owner of Messrs. Bengal Scientific and Surgical Company, ACC Director Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told Dhaka Tribune.
According to the case documents, the equipment was bought through direct procurement method instead of an open tender in violation of the public procurement rules.
The ACC says Sarkar and Pal colluded to embezzle funds. Charges under the penal code, prevention of corruption and money laundering legislations have been pressed against them.
