The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has submitted a charge sheet against Jatiya Party lawmaker Kazi Firoz Rashid in a case filed on charges of grabbing government property in the capital.
The commission’s Deputy Director Jahangir Alam, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to Dhaka Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayes on Monday, court sources said.
ACC Director Zulfikar Ali filed the case against Firoz Rashid, a Jatiya Party presidium member, on April 5, 2016.
According to the case statement, a government house on a one-bigha piece of land in Dhanmondi Residential Area was allocated to the then Canadian high commissioner Mohammad Ali on November 3, 1951.

In 1970, the authorities concerned approved handing over the land to the inheritors of Mohammad Ali—his second wife, son and daughter. Their names were inserted in the records as the new owners of the property.
On May 22, 1970, the ministry concerned also gave approval to hand over the land to the new owners.
However, in August of 1979, Firoz Rashid grabbed the land (Road no 2, House no 65) using fake documents.
In August 2015, the ACC initiated a probe against Kazi Firoz Rashid for grabbing the land in the city. The anti-graft body also interrogated him on August 13, 2015, on charges of the grabbing.
