The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against the expelled general secretary of Jubo Mohila League's Narsingdi district unit, Shamima Nur Papia, and her husband Mofizur Rahman Sumon for embezzling Tk6.24 crore.
ACC Deputy Director Shamim Ara Momtaj filed the case at Dhaka Coordinated Office 1 on Tuesday.
The commission launched an inquiry against Papia on February 22 over allegations of accumulating illegal wealth.
On February 23, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) raided two flats belonging to Papia and Sumon after arresting them at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka the day before.

RAB also seized counterfeit notes, foreign currencies and around Tk2.5 lakh in cash.
They also found around Tk58 lakh in cash raiding two flats at Indira Road in Dhaka, as well as a presidential suite at a five-star hotel.

Apart from the lavish flats in Dhaka, Papia and Sumon – a former Chhatra League leader – own two more flats and two plots worth around Tk2 crore in Narsingdi, and several luxurious cars.
Following her arrest, Jubo Mohila League, an affiliated body of the ruling Awami League, expelled Papia from the organization.
