The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a lawsuit against Kurigram food inspector and his wife for amassing illegal wealth and money laundering.
ACC Deputy Assistant Director Mohammad Nur Alam filed the case at Rangpur Integrated District Office on Wednesday.
The accused are Sajeda Begum and her husband Nur Mohammad Ali, food inspector and officer-in-charge at Nageshwari LSD, Kurigram.
According to the case statement, Sajeda Begum had submitted a statement of assets containing false and baseless information of Tk16,46,950 to the ACC. But in reality, she had illegally amassed wealth worth Tk92,24,755.
The ACC’s investigation team found that the money was illegally obtained and consumed through bribery and corruption by her husband Nur Mohammad Ali.
The national anti-graft commission also found that Nur Mohammad Ali consciously concealed the source of income and assisted his wife in amassing illegal wealth, which is a punishable offense under Money Laundering Act-2012.
