The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has asked The Westin Dhaka to provide information on Shamima Nur Papia’s stay in the hotel.

In a letter issued on Monday signed by ACC Deputy Director Shaheen Ara Momtaz, the Westin management was asked to provide information on how many days Papia had stayed there and how much she had spent.

The hotel authorities were also asked to inform the ACC about people who visited Papia during her stay there.

ACC Director and spokesperson Pranab Kumer Bhattacharya told Dhaka Tribune about developments in the case.

On February 27, the ACC moved to probe allegations of amassing illegal wealth by Papia, with an investigation officer being assigned to probe the allegations.

Earlier on February 22, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Papia and her husband, along with their accomplices, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with counterfeit banknotes, foreign currencies and cash.

RAB said Papia was the ringleader of the gang and smuggled counterfeit notes. RAB also revealed that she was involved in illegal arms and drug trading and ran a prostitution racket.

Later, Jubo Mohila League expelled Papia as the general secretary of its Narsingdi unit.
