NU acting exam controller arrested

Update : 13 Mar 2017, 06:29 PM
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested Badiuzzaman, acting examinations controller of National University, for allegedly providing selection grades to a number of NU officials in violation of government rules. “He was detained from Dhaka’s Mirpur on Monday morning,” ACC lawyer Enamul Haque told the Dhaka Tribune. Earlier, NU Proctor Touhid Zaman and Assistant Registrar Siddiqur Rahman were also arrested on February 13 from Mirpur on the same charge and released on bail on February 17. The court also rejected the bail plea of another official, Assistant Director Md Mofazzal Hossain. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque filed the case in 2012 against 13 people, including the then NU VC Kazi Shahidullah, on the allegation of causing a loss of about Tk1.04 crore to the government. The case was later transferred to the ACC. ACC assistant director Fazlul Bari is currently leading an investigation into the corruption case.
