Branches of scheduled banks in Dhaka and Chittagong will remain closed on Tuesday to facilitate the city corporation elections.
Bangladesh Bank has issued a circular regarding the closure on Monday.
The circular reads branches of all financial institutions will remain closed for Tuesday so that the employees can exercise their franchise.
The government has declared general holiday on Tuesday, the polls day in Dhaka North and Dhaka South and Chittagong City Corporations.
