Bangladesh will join the rescue operations in Nepal where more than 1,800 people killed and many feared trapped in rubble after a devastating 7.9-magnitude earthquake hit the country.
Quoting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the premier’s Special Assistant Mahbubul Haque Shakil said Bangladesh would stand beside earthquake-hit Nepal and its people.
Sheikh Hasina said: "We would extend our helping hand to friendly state Nepal during their disaster by participating in the rescue operations and providing medical services and human assistance.

Shakil said the Bangladesh foreign ministry is already communicating with the Nepalese foreign ministry to know what are necessary for their help, BSS reported.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the loss of life and property in a devastating earthquake in this region, including Nepal, India and Bangladesh.
The prime minister expressed her concern over magnitude of the tremor and the vast area that came under its ferocity.
She offered condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.
More than1,800 are known to have died in a powerful earthquake in Nepal, with many more feared trapped under rubble, officials say.
The 7.9 magnitude quake struck an area between the capital, Kathmandu, and the city of Pokhara, the US Geological Survey said.
Tremors were felt across the region, with further loss of life in India, Bangladesh, and Tibet and on the Mount Everest.
