Non-voters staying in Dhaka for polls asked to leave

The people who have come Dhaka for the purpose of the city corporation elections will have to leave the city by 12 midnight Saturday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia made the statement in a press conference at DMP media centre on Saturday afternoon.

The DMP has also imposed ban on plying motorcycle in the city from 12 midnight.

Only journalists, policemen and polling officers can ply motorcycles taking permission from the returning officers of the two city corporations.

However, the DMP also imposed a ban on all vehicular movements from 12 midnight on April 27 to 12 midnight on April 28.

The DMP commissioner said 1429 polling centres in the city are identified as risky.

He said two mobile teams of police would be patrolling in each of the 93 wards in two city corporations.

Ballots of Dhaka North will be counted at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre and voting of Dhaka South will be counted at Mohanagar Natyamancha.
