Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Vice-Chancellor Prof Aminul Haque Bhuiyan will go on a two-month leave amid the ongoing protest in the university in demand of his resignation.
The decision was taken in a syndicate meeting on Thursday morning.
University's acting proctor Md Emdadul Haque confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “The vice-chancellor will be going on leave from May 1.”
Earlier, 35 teachers of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology had resigned from different administrative posts on Monday last demanding the removal of university Vice-Chancellor Prof Aminul Haque Bhuiyan.
They are Institute of Information Technology Director Prof Dr Muhammad Jafar Iqbal, Centre for Excellence Director Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus, Public Administration Department Head Prof Dr Abdul Awal Biswas, Students Guidance and Council Director Prof Dr Anwarul Islam, acting proctor Emdadul Hoque, the assistant proctor, vehicle administrator, provosts, and assistant provosts of all the residential halls.
