Popular entertainment page Moja Losss?, which has been vocal against the sexual attacks on women at TSC that took place on Pohela Boishakh, has announced that they will be closing down due to death threats.
"After receiving multiple death threats from various political entities, we have decided to move back to Toronto. Bangladesh does not seem to be the right place for social awareness efforts, it often gets misinterprated," the page read on Monday night.
The satirical page, which started off as a social entertainment page a couple of years ago, soon grew popular with their jokes and commentary on social issues. Since last week, following the sexual attacks on several women during the Pohela Boishakh celebrations at TSC, the page has been releasing and identifying members involved in the attack via screenshots from the footages released.
Their Facebook photo album, "ধরিয়ে দিন!" (catch them!), which identified each of the attackers from Tuesday, currently has more than 15,000 shares on Facebook, with many comparing their contribution in the situation to that of official law enforcers.
On Sunday, following the release of the pictures, the page updated a status where they indicated they were being threatened. However, when contacted, they did not respond to queries from the Dhaka Tribune.
Moja losss? had become a symbol of hope for many following their contribution in catching culprits in various crimes, most recently of a boy slapping a girl. As of Monday night, the page had 542k "likes" on Facebook.
