BNP-backed mayoral candidate Mirza Abbas has promised to provide safety to the residents of Dhaka South.
The BNP leader's wife Afroza Abbas announced the election manifesto on behalf of her husband in a press conference in the capital's National Press Club.
The 10 points of the manifesto state providing citizen services, entertainment for residents of Dhaka, communication development, ensuring health and education services, developing environment and waste management system, making digital Dhaka and ensuring social services.
“Abbas is not present here as the government is still not giving him bail, so his wife has read out the manifesto on his behalf,” said BNP Standing Committee Member Brig General (Retd) Hannan Shah.
After announcing the manifesto, Afroza Abbas said: “When I campaign on behalf of Abbas, law enforcers and the ruling party activists harass and threaten us continuously. So I request the voters of Dhaka South to save my honour as I am the wife of your son [Abbas].”
