Star Wars fans, and there’s countless of them, were recently treated to the latest footage from the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens film. The two minute footage of the new leads and good old Han Solo with Chewbacca made their debut at the Star Wars Celebration convention in Anaheim, California. 5,000 fans jumped up for joy and rooted their approval of J.J. Abrams take on the latest episode of the Star Wars saga.
This sequel will take place nearly 30 years after Episode 6: Return of the Jedi, and stars Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow. Original cast members like Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) are involved as well. Unfortunately, their screen appereance haven’t been revealed just yet. What we were treated to so far gives us hope for the future introductions of the rest of the main cast. Another plus would be more powerful female characters in future installments in the franchise, stated by the filmmakers. There seems to be a well thought out plan for balance and character development.
The film is set to release in December of this year. Until then, keep your eyes and ears the latest news, and may The Force be with you.
