Two Bangladeshi nationals have been killed by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Masudpur-Monohorpur border in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj.
The deceased are Abdul Hakim, 38, son of late Saheb Ali of Tarapur village and Sharif Uddin 25, son of Golap Hossian of Khariyal village in the upazila.
Lt Col Abu Zafar Sheikh Mohammad Bazlul Haq, commander of 9 BGB battalion, said BSF members from Chadnichalk camp in Maldah district of West Bengal detained some Bangladeshi nationals from Fatehpur border as they entered Indian territory without obtaining legal documents on Tuesday night.
The BSF tortured the people severely and left them in Fatehpur bordering area, he said.
Locals recovered the body of Hakim from the area, and Sharif was rescued in a critical condition. Sharif was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he died Wednesday afternoon.
MM Moinul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shibganj police station, said the body of Hakim was handed over to his family members after an autopsy at Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital.
The body bore injury marks in nose, eyes, head and legs, he said.
The BSF and BGB held an-hour-long flag meeting at main pillar 10/1 on Fatehpur border over the killing.
Major Minnat Ali of the 9 BGB led the 20-member delegation from the Bangladesh side, while BSF Assistant Commissioner Pradeep Kumar led 12-member delegation of BSF.
