The countries lagging behind in achieving the Education for All (EFA) goal can take the experiences of this setting example of Bangladesh, UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova has said.
The UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) director general lauded Bangladesh’s success in education sector in 196th session of its executive board on Tuesday in Paris, reports BSS.
Irina was replying to a question from Bangladesh Representative to the UNESCO Executive Board and Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury.
Bokova said that Bangladesh is moving forward towards the inclusive education within the prior-set target of 2015 due to the present government's political will and commitment to the education.
She also lauded the role and commitment of Sheikh Hasina in this regard.
The UNESCO DG recalled Bangladesh's achievement in MDGs and EFA well ahead of the 2015 that was the target to achieve while many countries are positioned behind.
The current session of the UNESCO Executive Board started on April 13 and will continue till April 23.
Dr Kamal Chowdhury is representing Bangladesh to the ongoing session of the UNESCO Executive Board.
