An on-duty policeman has been killed and three other officials have been injured when their pick-up van plunged into a roadside ditch in the Sagordighi Sanbandha area under Ghatail upazila in Tangail.
The deceased is Rezaul Karim, 35, nayeb of Ghatail police station and also the driver of the pick-up van.
The injured are Sagardighi investigation outpost SI Abdul Wahab, 35, Constable Mominur Rahman, 30, and Constable Mojnu Miah, 32.
Ghatail police OC Mokhlesur Rahman said: “The accident occurred early on Monday when the pick-up van carrying the patrol policemen crashed into the wall of a bridge in the area as Rezaul lost control over the steering wheel. He died on the spot.”
The injured were admitted to Tangail Medical College Hospital, added the OC.
