Jamaat-Shibir supporters have torched a bus at Shibbari bus stand area of Gazipur town at the start of the dawn-to-dusk hartal enforced by Jamaat, protesting the execution of party leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.
Five bus passengers have been injured while trying to get off the bus on Monday morning.
Quoting witnesses, Joydebpur Fire Service Inspector Shahin Alam said hartal supporters first vandalised a Nabinagar-bound bus around 6:30am. Then they torched the bus by pouring petrol on it.
On being informed, firefighters rushed in and doused the flame.
Residential doctor Abdus Salam of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital said two of the injured were discharged after being given primary treatment.
Kamaruzzaman, senior assistant secretary general of Jamaat, was hanged on Saturday at Dhaka Central Jail for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
