Update : 10 Apr 2015, 07:20 PM

At least four people died yesterday in separate road accidents across the capital. Two injured were admitted to the Dhaka Medical Hospital.

The casualties were Shakila Israt Jhumur, 30, her son Amin, 6, and Farida Yasmin, 33; another person has yet to be identified.

Jhumur and her son Amin were killed after a pick-up van hit their rickshaw in front of Matuail Institute of Child & Mother Health in capital's Jatrabari yesterday morning.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector Sentu Chondro Das said the duty doctor declared Jhumur and Amin dead when they were brought to the hospital at around 11:30am.

Jhumur’s daughter Ritu Akhter, 9, suffered injuries in the accident, said Jatrabari police station Sub-Inspector Abdul Awal.

Shortly after the accident, locals caught the driver and the helper of the pick-up, Dhaka Metro-Ta-118612, and handed them over to police, Abdul Awal said.

Meanwhile, Farida Yasmin, 33, was killed and her husband Abdul Hashem was injured in another accident.

Farida’s brother-in-law Sharif said Farida died when a truck ran over Hashem’s motorcycle in Amulia, Demra yesterday morning.

Three of the dead were received by their relatives. No case was filed with the police station until yesterday.

The concerned police officials said they were preparing to file cases.

Besides, another unidentified body was found in Mohakhali yesterday.

The body has an injury on the head. Sub-Inspector of Mohakhali police station Hridoy Kumar Poddar suspects the person might have been hit by traffic.

Locals informed police soon after he collapsed on the road yesterday morning.

Police is preparing to file a case in the incident, he added.
