The government has issued an embargo on vehicle movement during the Dhaka and Chittagong City Corporation elections.
A gazette notification published yesterday from Road Transport and Highways Division stated that movement of autorickshaw, taxi cab, micro bus, jeep, pick up, car, bus, truck and tempo will be restricted from April 27, 12am to April 28, 12am.
For motorcycles, the embargo will be effective from April 25, 12 am to April 29, 6am.
However, with permission of returning officers, the embargo may be relaxed for the mayor and councillor candidates and their agents, and local and foreign observers.
Apart from them, journalists, electoral officials, law enforcers, emergency services like ambulance, fire service, electricity, gas, water, postal and telecommunication vehicles will not fall under the restriction.
In addition, port and daily necessary goods transportation may be allowed by the appropriate authorities.
