Every branch of banks and non-banking financial institutions will have to finance at least one woman entrepreneur every year.
At least three new women entrepreneurs, who did not take loans earlier from any bank or FI, will have to be found out by every bank branches from their operational areas, said a Bangladesh Bank circular issued yesterday with immediate effect.
Later, the selected entrepreneurs will be trained to build their capacity over business and banking activities, added the notice.
Of the three trained entrepreneurs, one will be provided with micro-credit.
Bangladesh Bank will consider providing facilities from its refinancing fund against the given credit. The success of the programme will be counted at CAMELS rating of the banks and financial institutions.
Banks and FIs will have to report about the progress of the programme on a quarterly basis to the women entrepreneur unit of Bangladesh Bank, said the circular.
