Police adopt zero tolerance policy against drug abuse

The police have decided to adopt zero tolerance policy against any kind of drug abuse in the country.

This decision came in a directive made after a quarterly Crime Conference (January-March 2015) at the Police Headquarters yesterday with the Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque in chair.

The IGP ordered police officials to involve civilians through community policing to build social awareness against drug abuse.

In the conference the IGP also praised the police for their restless effort towards maintaining law and order in the country and ordered them to remain as alert as they are now.

In the conference terrorism issues, women oppression, road accidents and other criminal activities were discussed alongside security aspects of the three city corporation polls, and Pakistan cricket team visit to Bangladesh.

The IGP specially emphasised on security measures during Pohela Boishakh celebration throughout the country.

Bangladesh police academy Principal Additional IGP Naeem Ahmed, Additional IGP of Special Branch of police Dr Md Zabed Patwary, Additional IGP of CID Sheikh Himayet Hossain, and all heads of different police unit including Metropolitan Police Commissioners and DIGs were present in the conference.
