Let’s get it on!

There’s a new TV show on the block and it’s 20 minutes of pure entertainment. Lip Sync Battle on the Spike network features two celebrities who go head-to-head, in two rounds, to see who’s performance wins the vote of the audience in attendance. With back-to-back episodes, there was plenty to cheer about.

The premiere episode featured Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Late Night Show host Jimmy Fallon. The “People’s Champ,” Dwayne Johnson came out the blocks with an impressive performance of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.” Fallon, on the other hand, sang along to a throwback with “Jump In The Line.” The first two performances for both celebrities are in their casual or everyday clothes. The second round, however, is a full on costume-changing presentation. The Rock bursts onto stage in all 70s swagger, performing to “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees. And yes, it was glorious. Fallon’s number, church choir and all, of Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” wasn’t enough to sway the crowd’s vote. Dwanye Johnson, former 10-time WWE champion, is now Lip Sync Battle’s first champion.

John Legend and rapper/actor Common were the next to take the stage in the second episode. Legend’s MC Hammer routine in the second round couldn’t overcome the magnificent display by Common and his best Lionel Ritchie impression. There’s more fun to be had every Friday night with rap legend host LL Cool J and colour commentary by Chrissy Teigen, so don’t forget to tune in. Or download, ahem.
