Train communication on the Dhaka-Sylhet-Chittagong routes has been resumed after seven hours of suspension.
Bhairab police station OC Saidul Islam said the rail link was restored around 9am Monday.
The rail communications on these routes were suspended from 2:15am following the derailment of a Chittagong-bound train in Nalchhata area near Pubail station under Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur.
Dhaka-bound Turna-Nishitha Express and Chittagong Mail trains were stranded in Bhairab while Chittagong-bound Turna-Nishitha Express stranded in Tongi station because of the derailment.
