2 Moghbazar flyover workers killed as bus hits

Two construction workers have been killed as a bus rammed them while they were working at Moghbazar-Mouchak flyover construction site in the capital’s Moghbazar area.

The deceased are Majedul Islam, 20, and his younger brother Asadul, 18.

Buriganga trawler capsize: Death toll reaches 16

The death toll from trawler capsize in Buriganga river has risen to 16 with the recovery of five more bodies on Saturday.

Offier-in-Charge of South Keraniganj police station Jamal Uddin Mir said the divers’ team of fire service recovered five bodies from the river between 7am and 9am.

8 Myanmar nationals held in Chittagong

Police have detained eight Myanmar nationals and a Bangladeshi broker while intruding into the country at Shah Amanat Third Karnaphuli Bridge in Chittagong.

The Bangladeshi broker is Hossain Mohammad Jashim, 22, hailed from Cox’s Bazar.

Police official killed in Chittagong road accident

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Sitakunda police station has been killed as a speedy driven truck hit him in Bhatiari Inamnagar area under Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong.

The deceased is Jan-e-Alam, ASI of Industrial police in Sitakunda.

3 of a family burnt in Sylhet

Three members of a family sustained burn injuries when a fire broke out at a house in Mirer Maidan area of Sylhet city.

The victims were identified as Monwara Begum, 45, wife of late Jakir Hossain, her daughter Jahida Akter, 20, and son Jahir Hossain, 14.

Iran president vows to abide by nuclear deal

Iran's president has vowed it will abide by the terms of the preliminary nuclear agreement it signed with six world powers, so long as they do too.

"The world must know that we do not intend to cheat," Hassan Rouhani said in a televised address to the nation.

China ex-security chief Zhou charged

China's former security chief Zhou Yongkang has been charged with bribery, abuse of power and the intentional disclosure of state secrets, state media report.

Mr Zhou was, until his retirement in 2012, one of China's most powerful men.
