The death toll from trawler capsize in Buriganga river has risen to 16 with the recovery of five more bodies on Saturday.
Offier-in-Charge of South Keraniganj police station Jamal Uddin Mir said the divers’ team of fire service recovered five bodies from the river between 7am and 9am.
Eight people were killed when a trawler on the Buriganga river sank with 50 to 60 passengers on board after colliding with a cargo vessel near West Pangaon in Keraniganj on Wednesday night.
Deputy Commissioner Zillar Rahman handed over Tk20, 000 to each 11 deceased’s family on Friday.
