Padatik’s theatre fest to begin on April 7

Padatik Nattya Sangsad (TSC) is all set to host a five-day theatre festival starting on April 7 at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital.

A total of seven troupes including two Kolkata based troupes, Aneek and Rangakarmee, are confirmed to take part in the fest with their respective productions. On the opening day, staging of Theatre’s (Bailey Road) “Kuhokjaal” and Padatik’s “Janmanko” will lift the festival curtain. The rest of the three local participating troupes includes Nagorik Natya Sampradaya, BotTala and Aranyak.

Visiting troupe Aneek is set to bring their acclaimed plays “Ekusher Golpo” and “Chi-kissa” while another visiting troupe Rangakarmee will stage it’s “Rojana” and “Antarjatra.”

Apart from the festival, the participating troupes will also take part in an open-air-cultural-event everyday by rendering songs, dancing, reciting and staging street-plays just outside the venue.

With the slogan “Mukto Koro Manobota,” the festival will also see two theatre personalities honoured for their contributions to theatre at the concluding ceremony set to take place on April 11. Padatik has been hosting the event since 2010 as a tribute to the late columnist and educationalist Syed Badruddin Hossain, who served as the troupe’s president till his demise.
