Update : 30 Mar 2015, 04:15 PM

An alliance of bloggers has demanded capital punishment for the killers of Oyasiqur Rhaman.

In a statement issued on Monday, Bangla community Blogger Alliance condemned the brutal killing.

The alliance of the Bangla language bloggers also expressed hope that the government would take more visible and enhanced step in order to ensure people's security.

The statement called upon the authorities concerned to create environment for secular writing.

“The militants are being encouraged to make more attacks due to the slack progress in the trial of the killers.”

The community also urged the people of all walks to be united to fight for the rights to free expression.

Apart from the bloggers' alliance,  Bangladesh Online Activists Forum also condemned the killing and demanded arrest of the masterminds of such attacks on bloggers.

The organisation's president in a press release, said the failure to capture the perpetrators of Avijit murder paved way for the recurrence of the similar incident.

Oyasiqur was hacked to death in the capital's Dipika Mosque Lane in Tejgaon in the afternoon, a month after the murder of another secular blogger and science writer Avijit Roy.

Oyasiqur was an admirer of Avijit Roy.

After Avijit’s killing, Oyasiqur paid tribute to him making his Facebook profile and cover photos with the text: #iamavijit and words cannot be killed.

He was member of eight Facebook group pages including, Atheist Bangladesh.

The police said he has been murdered in the same way blogger Rajeeb Haider was killed.

Rajeeb, known as Thaba Baba in the blogging community, was hacked to death on February 15, 2013 near his Pallabi house.
