Abdus Salam, finance secretary of BNP's central committee and also former member secretary of BNP, has submitted nomination form for the mayoral election to Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
Syeda Fatema Salam, wife of Salam, filed the form on behalf of his husband, on Sunday afternoon.
“No final decision from party has yet to come for my husband, but there is a silent support from the party chairperson Khaleda Zia," said Fatema while talking to the journalists after submission of the form.
Moreover, BNP city unit Convener Mirza Abbas, is also running for mayoral post of Dhaka south.
Elections to the divided Dhaka city and Chittagong City Corporations are scheduled to be held on April 28.
The last day for submitting nomination forms is March 29, and the last date of withdrawing nomination papers is April 9.
