BNP city unit Convener Mirza Abbas has submitted nomination form for contesting the mayoral race in the upcoming Dhaka South City Corporation polls.
Advocate Abdus Salam and Advocate AKM Shahjahan, lawyers of Abbas, filed the form on behalf of their client, on Sunday afternoon.
“We hope that Abbas will get support from the party’s high command for the mayoral race of the Dhaka South City Corporation," said Advocate Salam.
Moreover, Abdus Salam, currently finance secretary of BNP's central committee, is also running for Dhaka south.
Elections to the divided Dhaka city and Chittagong City Corporations are scheduled to be held on April 28.
The last day for submitting nomination forms is March 29, and the last date of withdrawing nomination papers is April 9.
