A schoolboy has got drowned while taking holy bath in the Brahmaputra River during a Hindu festival in Mymensingh.
Deceased Ontor Das is the son of Ronjon Das and a class VIII student at Mukul Niketon High School.
Mymensingh Fire Service Assistant Director Abul Hossain said: “Ontor got drowned while he went to take holy bath in the river along with his parents on Friday afternoon.”
On information, divers from the fire service went to the spot and recovered the body.
Divers said he died getting stuck in quicksand in the river.
Meanwhile, ten persons were killed in a stampede during the festival in the Brahmaputra River at Langalbandh of Narayanganj.
