A sexagenarian man has been burnt to death as a fire broke out at a thatched house at Arefinnagar in Bayejid area of Chittagong early Friday.
The deceased is Abdul Ali, 60.
Mohammad Yeahia, assistant director of Chittagong Fire Service, said the fire originated from an oven in a shanty of the slum around 3am.
He said four other thatched houses were gutted and two cows also burnt alive in the fire.
Being informed, two fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame around 5am.
