A youth has been killed as a truck ran him over on Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong Highway at Patiya upazila in Chittagong district.
The deceased was identified as Abbas Uddin, 23, son of Abdul Alam of Santirhat area of the upazila, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Masud Alam, in-charge of Patiya Highway police outpost.
SI Masud said the accident took place on the highway between upazila’s Shantirhat and Monsar Tek area while he was crossing the road on Wednesday morning.
The speedy truck ran him over, leaving him dead on the spot, said the SI adding that police seized the truck but the driver managed to flee after the accident.
