10 charges against 8 Jamalpur Razakars finalised

The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has finalised investigation report against 8 alleged Razakars from Jamalpur and brought 10 charges of crimes against humanity.

Mohammad Abdul Hannan Khan, coordinator of the agency, said this at a press briefing held at its Dhanmandi office in the capital on Tuesday, reports BSS.

The eight men are Md Ashraf Hossain, 64, Prof Sharif Ahmed, 71, Md Abdul Mannan, 66, Md Abdul Bari, 62, Md Harun, 58, Md Abul Hashem, 65, Advocate Shamsul Haque, 70, and SM Eusuf Ali, 83. Of them, Advocate Shamsul Haque and SM Eusuf Ali are in jail.

They were arrested on March 2, minutes after the ICT 2 issued arrest warrant against them.

All of them are leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and the first six carried out gruesome crimes as Al-Badr men with Ashraf, accused no 1, as their leader.

The investigation agency prepared 596-page report with documentary evidence against them.

According to the agency, these eight carried out heinous crimes like murder, looting, torture and abduction, starting from April 22 to December 11, 1971.

Investigation officer Matiur Rahman said, he had launched the probe on June 6, 2013 and concluded Tuesday.

Khan, with the status of inspector general of police, said, of the 6 absconding accused, two or three managed to flee the country but the rest are still inside.
