Two workers have been burnt to death when a fire broke out at a hotel in Ramganj upazila in Lakshmipur.
The deceased are Abdus Salam, of Shoriyatpur and Mohammad Chowdhury, son of Abdul Hoque of Dorbeshpur village.
Locals said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at the hotel around 3am Wednesday and soon engulfed a nearby store.
Abdus and Abdul were burned alive inside the hotel as it was locked from the outside.
Later, the fire rangers brought the blaze under control around 4am.
Ramganj Fire Service Station Officer Rafiqul Alam said: “We broke into the hotel and recovered the bodies. The extent of the damage has been estimated at Tk5 lakh.”
