A person has allegedly suffocated his wife to death at Sreepur of Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital.
Deceased Salma Aktar, 25, was a worker of a garment factory.
Her husband Ainal Haque went on hiding after the incident.
Family members said Salma and Ainal used to quarrel over family matter often. They engaged in altercation on Saturday night and Ainal fled on Sunday morning after killing Salma.
Neighbours noticed Salma's body at her room and informed police in the morning.
Ashulia police station OC Mostafa Kamal said police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
He said: "It is being suspected that Salma might have been suffocated to death as injury marks were spotted on her neck."
A case was filed with the police station in this connection.
